This wonderful girl, well woman, is my good friend's sister. And when she drove up pulling a huge horse trailer I was immediately impressed! And although Sunshine (the horse) wasn't as impressed with me at first, she came around at the end and started posing! It was a fun shoot!

I love weddings, obviously! But I especially love weddings of people that I know truly love each other. I love the look in their eyes during their ceremony. I love listening to all the speeches were all their friends proclaim them to be perfect for each other. I love that I almost always cry during these speeches (good thing I'm hidden behind a camera). I love the entire feeling of happiness and excitement in this day, the beginning to their new lives together.

So you can imagine my delight when I was hired by a couple I've know for along time, but how well do you really know someone until you take their pictures. Now I know how they interact and their best sides. And I know how much they adore each other. Here's to a life of happiness for these two wonderful people and their wonderful families!

It's really is so important to get to work with your wedding couples...before the wedding day. I love watching the love in progress. I love seeing you look at each other and trying to shoot it before you remember I'm there. I probably won't change my packages before the Fall but when I do I will make sure every package has an engagement session included. First off because everyone needs love pictures. Secondly, it's so dang fun!

It is always quite refreshing to show up to meet someone whom you've never met, well actually a few people you've never met, and find yourself feeling quite comfortable. At the end of an hour you're sure you were friends before. I find myself literally falling in love with the families I am blessed enough to photograph...this family was no exception! I love meeting new families, and new babies! And hip-hip-hooray for a sunny day!

This summer I shot pictures for a horse show, which is one of my favorite things to do. I spent three 12 hour days in the 110 degree heat of San Miguel trying to shield my poor camera out of the sun. A few times I feared one of us would stop working because it was THAT hot. I have only done a few horse shows, usually weddings and portraits, and so I found myself taking TOO many pictures. I decided instead of selling individual pictures people could just buy a disk of one day or the entire weekend. That way all those pictures I took would find their rightful owners and I wouldn't have to justify to myself why I took so many. It was not so much about the money as it was fun.

Needless to say it was a little disheartening to find out that a person who had contacted me about purchasing the photos but had never actually done so, had instead stolen them off of my website. I very much dislike putting PROOF over all my pictures but now I see why that, or branding, is completely necessary. This person had used the pictures on their website, on their blog and on an advertisement. After a few back and forth emails where the person insisted they had only used the SHARE button and that everything was linked back to my gallery, that they received thousands of pictures and why would they use mine. But an innocent party wouldn't have taken them down quite so fast I dare say.

So the moral of my story is, don't steal. When you get caught its downright embarrassing. Especially since I was practically giving the photos away and I would have gladly let them use them for advertising with my logo on them.

And hip-hip-hooray for Stitch...screen shots are how you get caught in the act of thievery!

Oh HERE piggy piggy!!!

I have never really been loose with a pig before, and after today I would really like a pet pig! I would like a pet everything, but truely these pigs were great!!! The little ones where a bit forward but hey, I wasn't the one wearing the wedding dress!!! Chris Slater was nice enough to let us come hang out with him and his cute pig friends today, the babies are for sale (805-391-0930) if you too want a pet pig, or fair pig they are ready to go! I love my sister for letting me torture her with my ideas. This is going to be the first of many of my collection "The Country Bride". Yay for piggies!!!
